Welcome to therapy!
I am so glad that you have decided to take this important step to care for your mental health. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I have a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over fifteen years in the field of therapy. Throughout my career I have acquired extensive experience working with clients from ages two to one hundred.
I am trained to use different modalities of care including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy and EMDR which I utilize to treat diagnoses such as adjustment disorders, depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD and PTSD. My philosophy of counseling is based on the principles of increasing awareness of our thoughts and behaviors, achieving balance in life, promoting respect between the individuals, and establishing strong connections with other human beings.
My approach to counseling is based on collaboration and connection. As a client, you can expect to share your personal story and struggles with me and be listened to. I want for my clients to feel seen and understood during each session. Together we will identify the areas that you want to work on and establish goals that we will be monitoring throughout the course of therapy. If my clients complete the treatment feeling balanced and peaceful I consider that a success.
Hello, my name is Solanja Perez-Rede
My first career choice was not counseling. When I started working after college I did not feel fulfilled and I knew I had much more to give but the main goal at that time was to help others. Little did I know that I was on the way of helping myself. Being a counselor has allowed me to find my own flaws and work on them. It has also helped me tremendously in getting to know and understand myself deeply. It was a journey that started with other people in mind but ended up being the beginning of my own that has continued throughout my career.
Gaining that understanding of myself has taught me that we are all different, that my beliefs that people should be the same and there is a uniform approach to tasks and challenges was erroneous. This has opened my mind to a wide arrange of personalities and diversity. We are all unique human beings with an unparallel path in life.
It was at that point that I discovered my own distinct identity and started working on correcting the thoughts that no longer served a purpose in my life. The journey is not easy, it takes intention and consistency. I have learned that it is possible to change the perspective, the thoughts and the destination.
